Why I Built My Freedom Forecast
A planner born from real life. — MK Taylor
A few years ago, my life changed in ways I never saw coming.
Within the span of four years, I experienced several significant life events that impacted me in more ways than I ever imagined. With these life changes came considerable loss and major impacts to my many areas of my life. Financial stability was rocked and what retirement plan I had was now at risk. Each life change, on its own, would have been a lot to navigate. Together, they completely changed the course of my retirement.
I was left trying to figure it all out on my own even though I had a financial advisor.
For reasons outside my control, I couldn't continue working with them. So I hired a new one. But my situation was complicated, and they could only see part of the picture. Partial assets. Partial information. Partial guidance.
I found myself making well-researched but uncertain decisions about my own financial future — decisions that would affect whether I'd be okay in retirement. And I had no real way to see the full picture clearly.
So I started educating myself.
I took finance courses, market investing courses, real-estate investing courses, I read everything I could find. I learned how to stabilize my finances and make better decisions with what I had. Slowly, I started to feel more in control.
But there was still one thing missing.
I couldn't find a single tool that could show me the full picture — and let me change it.
Not just a calculator. Not a spreadsheet. Not anything my advisor used.
What I really wanted was something simple I could sit down with and ask:
What if I retired 5 years earlier than planned? What would that actually look like?
What if I retired 2 years later? How much difference would that really make?
What if I inherited money unexpectedly? Should I pay off debt, invest it, or both — and how does that change my retirement date?
What if I took Social Security at 62 instead of 67? How much does that one decision cost me over the next 20 years?
What if I decided to work part-time for the first 5 years and enter semi-retirement? Would that change everything — or just a little?
Do I actually know my Freedom Number? The real number I need to retire on my terms?
I wanted to create scenarios. Real what-if scenarios. At my fingertips. In minutes.
I couldn't find that tool. So I built it.
My Freedom Forecast was built for people who just want to see their numbers clearly and ask what if without waiting for an appointment.
You don't need to be a financial expert to use this.
You just need to know that your retirement matters — and that the decisions you make today, this year, and in the next few years will shape what your future looks like.
The earlier you can see your forecast, the more options you have.
